Liz: What is your favorite trip of all time?
Jenn: One of my most favorite trips is our vacation to Palm Springs with some dear friends. They also have two boys nearly the same age as my ours, and we've known each other for years. Energy levels among the kids were through the roof at times, but it was a blast.
The trip was super family-friendly. We stayed at a resort that had games, pools, playgrounds, and enjoyed a full-sized kitchen in our suite. We visited the Children's Discovery Museum, Air Museum, and when the kids crashed, drove through some amazing mid-century modern neighborhoods. On our way back home, we stopped by Cabazon (remember from Pee Wee's Big Adventures?) to check out the dinosaur displays.
Liz: If you could travel anywhere right now where would you go?
Liz: If you could travel anywhere right now where would you go?
Jenn: The locales are polar opposites, but if I could travel anywhere, it'd be a toss up between New Zealand and Iceland.
Liz: Any upcoming trips planned?
Liz: Any upcoming trips planned?
Jenn: Before long road trips, I always clean and vacuum the inside of our vehicle. It makes such a difference when those hours you spend traveling is in a clean, tidy car -- not that it stays that way with my children! But I like to start out with a clean slate
Liz: What is on your must-have packing list?
Liz: What is on your must-have packing list?
Jenn: Our sound machines. When we turn it on at bedtime, it's an instant cue for our kids that it's lights-out.
Liz: Tips on traveling with children?
Jenn: Part of the reason our Palm Springs trip with friends was so successful was having an extra set of parents. When the kids were in bed, us couples took turns going on a mini-date to the pool or jacuzzi. Not to mention how much more fun our kids had because they were with their best friends.
Liz: Tips on travelling while pregnant?
Jenn: Bring a pillow! We did a cross-country move while I was five-months pregnant and I foolishly thought I could make do with what the plane had to offer. Already feeling morning sick, the airplane and foreign smells and sounds only exacerbated my pregnancy aches and pains. In the very least, I had my kids' Pillow Pets to make my time in the air a bit more comfortable.
Liz: Best life advice you ever gave?
Jenn: Borrowed from my friend (and Design Mom said this too), but: there is a season for all things. As long as I'm doing my best, this reminder helps me maintain perspective and brings comfort if I'm carrying guilt for things I should've/could've done.
