Blogger's Travel Week - Stephanie from Stephmodo

This week five of my favorite bloggers have agreed to be interviewed about their love for travel.  I am honored to have worked with each of them, and I think you will enjoy getting to know how travel fits into their lives!

Today Stephanie from Stephmodo shares about all things travel.  I have been following Stephanie's blog for a few years and she is one of my all time favorite bloggers.  Stephanie and her husband remodeled the most amazing French cottage.  I faithfully watched the renovation project and was amazed by the tremendous transformation (a true labor of love).  The cottage is so beautiful and well styled, a real reflection of Stephanie's design style.  I have plans to stay at the cottage (you can rent it out!).  Check out her blog to learn more about their French cottage, her great design skills, and her adorable family.  Stephanie's blog is an amazing collection of beautiful things!

Liz: If you could travel anywhere right now where would you go?

Stephanie: Tahiti.

Sam

Lauren
Today Lauren and Sam from twIN STYLE share about their love for travel.  I discovered their blog from a guest post on You are my Fave.  I love the concept for their blog: Fraternal twins living on opposite sides of the country documenting their love for style.  Each day the sisters meticulously catalog and photograph their wardrobes.  After reading their blog you can see how close these sisters are and how much they love fashion.  I have four sisters myself and I automatically loved what these two sisters were doing!  Check out their blog and get prepared to be inspired!

Summer Solstice is Here

Grand Cayman Islands
Today it is officially summer!  Exactly one year ago I was laying on this beach for a week.  It was relaxing and delightful.  This year I am working a bunch of hours and staying busy.  This is my first summer working in the airline industry and I can't adequately describe how crazy busy work is right now. Summer is a bad time to travel non-revenue  so I am planning my bigger international trips after September when things slow down.

My biggest advice for summer travel - please arrive at the airport two hours early.  You will be doing everyone a favor by being early. No one likes to run through the terminal to catch a plane.

Robin Thicke - My Current Obession

Photo

Four words: Robin Thicke = too hot!  I was watching this show and was introduced to "Lost without you" by Robin Thicke.  How is it possible this is the first time that I have heard this song?  I feel like I have been living under a rock.  So good, I can't stop listening to this song. I have been pretty partial to Justin Timblerlake since middle school, but now I need to make some room for Robin!

Traveling with Luggage

This tote would make a perfect carry-on.

The Do's and Don'ts of traveling with luggage.

Don't
- Don't buy black roller luggage - many bags look alike and you would be surprised how many people walk off with the wrong luggage.
- Don't pack valuables in your checked luggage. This includes: cash, electronics, medication, keys, etc. If your luggage is lost you will need to have all essential items with you. Unfortunately most airlines will not replace stollen high-value items from you luggage.
- Don't pack frozen raw hamburger meat in a cooler - when it thaws it will leak and ruin everyone's luggage (true story - this really happened).

Eagle Creek Luggage

Photo

As a nonrevenue passenger I am frequently one of the last passengers on the airplane before it departs.  Because I am one of the last ones to get on the plane, and often times taking one of the last seats on the plane, there is rarely room in the overhead bins.  Necessity requires me to fit my luggage under the seat in front of me.  This means my luggage and everything I need for my trip needs to fit in that tiny space under the seat in front of me.  Currently I carry on a small backpack.

Missoni Luggage - The White Unicorn of Luggage

Missoni for Target

I call this carry on "the white unicorn of luggage", so rare and elusive.  I have only seen two of them since they came out.  Both times I have seen this luggage, I stopped and talked to the owners.  I like to hear how they scored the years most coveted piece of luggage.  This luggage is beautiful and I hope someday I can own one.  If you have an extra $300 I found one for sale on ebay.

Best Internship Ever

During my master's program at UNLV I had the opportunity to intern with MGM Resorts International in their philanthropy department.  I spent ten lovely months interning with the largest private employer in the state of Nevada.  This internship taught me so many things and really helped jump start my career.  In addition to learning a tremendous amount about philanthropy, I had access to so many perks.  MGM Resorts owns casinos like: the Bellagio, the Mirage, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, the Excalibur, the Luxor, the Monte Carlo, New York-New York, City Center, Vidara, Aria, and Circus Circus.

Getting the Job

Sacramento baggage claim. Photo.
Have you ever wanted to get a job in the airline industry?

For the last ten years my goal has been to work for my favorite airline.  Eventually, I plan to work at the philanthropy department at the corporate headquarters .  Almost three years ago I graduated with a master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. After graduation I worked as the director of this free medical clinic at a shelter for homeless women and children.

Blogger's Travel Week - Jenn from Ambrosia Creative

This week five of my favorite bloggers have agreed to be interviewed about their love for travel.  I am honored to have worked with each of them, and I think you will enjoy getting to know how travel fits into their lives!

Jenn Kirk from the blog Ambrosia Creative is a talented mother, graphic designer, and all around good person.  The thing I love the most about Jenn's blog are the free templates.  She makes style and good living accessible to all of her readers!  Stop by her blog and discover what I mean.
Liz: What is your favorite trip of all time?

Jenn: One of my most favorite trips is our vacation to Palm Springs with some dear friends. They also have two boys nearly the same age as my ours, and we've known each other for years. Energy levels among the kids were through the roof at times, but it was a blast.

The trip was super family-friendly. We stayed at a resort that had games, pools, playgrounds, and enjoyed a full-sized kitchen in our suite. We visited the Children's Discovery Museum, Air Museum, and when the kids crashed, drove through some amazing mid-century modern neighborhoods. On our way back home, we stopped by Cabazon (remember from Pee Wee's Big Adventures?) to check out the dinosaur displays.
